dc.description.abstract Glencore McArthur River Mining Pty Ltd (MRM) ships mixed zinc-lead and zinc concentrates from the loading facility at Bing Bong to an offshore transhipment area for transfer to bulk carrier vessels.Since 1992, environmental monitoring of total concentrations of metals and arsenic, and lead isotope ratio has been undertaken. In 2006–7, a pilot study was performed to assess whether Diffusive Gradients in Thin films (DGT) could be applied to coastal waters around Bing Bong, to determine the concentrations of bioavailable metals This pilot study and past DGT monitoring programs from 2009–13 demonstrated that DGT can be effectively applied to monitor bioavailable metals and Pb isotope ratios in coastal seawater around the Bing Bong loading facility en_AU
